Members and fans of the Al Nasr Coalition participated in the demonstrations condemning the insult to the Holy Quran, which swept across the Iraqi governorates, this evening.
Baghdad and other cities witnessed large demonstrations called for by the coordination framework, with wide participation by Muslim and non-Muslim ethnicities and sects, in response to the repeated abuse of the Quran and the Iraqi flag in Sweden.
It is noteworthy that Al Nasr Coalition previously praised the Prime Minister's decision to withdraw the Iraqi charge d'affaires to Sweden and expel the Swedish Ambassador from Baghdad.
Earlier, the head of Al Nasr Coalition, Dr. Haider al-Abadi, called on the European Union to enact legislation deterring any offense against religions and cultures, and for Sweden to seriously consider the seriousness of its policies that contradict the sovereignty of states and the sanctity of religions.
Dr. Al-Abadi warned that coexistence, security and world peace should not be a prisoner of hate groups and advocates of conflict.
