The leader of Al Nasr Coalition, Aqeel Al-Rudaini, confirmed that Dr. Haider Al-Abadi had assumed power while the American forces were in Iraq. Refuting rumors that the Americans returned during the era of Dr. Al-Abadi.

This came in his response to Al-Fateh Alliance member Ali Al-Zubaidi.

Al-Rudaini said: "For the knowledge of Brother Al-Zubaidi and everyone who is investigating the truth, the American forces returned to Iraq during the era of the government that preceded Al-Abadi's government, and this is proven by a request letter carried by the then Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hoshyar Zebari, on 22/6/2014, and that Dr. Al-Abadi assumed the prime ministership after House of Representatives vote on 10/9/2014.
